Special Education Attorney
Edie Bogaczyk has worked as an attorney for over 20 years and has been an advocate her entire adult life. Blending her psychology and legal degrees is a natural fit for her law practice. Edie currently practices law full-time and specializes in disability rights. Her services fill a community void and a need for legal support in special education law. Edie has direct personal experience with the special education process in Iowa, as she is the parent of a child with a disability who has had an IEP for the past 11 years.
Special education attorneys Curt Sytsma and Edie Bogazcyk will discuss a recent Iowa due process case brought forth by the parents of a child with dyslexia. A judge ruled in the parents’ favor, and the decision has major implications for how special education eligibility is determined in Iowa. Curt and Edie will also discuss the Endrew case, in which the U.S. Supreme Court stated that a child with an IEP must receive more than minimal benefit from special education services.
